Tibet Overland with Nepal

Welcome to Nepal and Tibet—lands of ancient pilgrimages and mysteries, steeped in religion and tradition, with their sacred places dotting the matchless landscape aptly named the “Roof of the World.” The first part of the journey is focused on Nepalese religious life in Kathmandu. As we travel to Tibet, we leave the city behind for the highest plateau in the world, with its stunning rock formations, cascades and canyons, diamonded by ribbons of dewy mist on prodigious Mount Xishpagma (26,942 feet tall).

The second part of the journey is enriched by traveling to the most lavishly decorated and massive monasteries and temples of Tibet. In addition to the remarkable paintings, legends, myths, rituals, and teachings, travelers will be awed by the truly sacred parts of Tibet: the hearts and faiths of the people we will be meeting.

The last segment of the journey takes us from Lhasa by air over the majestic Himalayas, offering a breathtaking view of the Himalayan range, including Mount Everest (29,029 feet) on a one-hour trans-Himalayan flight to Kathmandu. This pilgrimage through the highest point in the world is an opportunity to contemplate creation, to feel unity with nature and people, and to experience the magnificence of the lofty Himalayas through a powerful trifecta: heart, body and soul
